Usually I try to get out of town for Memorial Day weekend—Santa Barbara is notorious for a nasty “June Gloom” which always happens to roll around just in time for the holiday weekend—but this year I didn’t get organized in time for a getaway and braced myself for three foggy days ahead. Much to my surprise, the sunshine fairy was on our side this year and I actually got a summer base tan after an afternoon sailing session.
