Life Lately 5.21.23

May 21, 2023

With the foggy foggy days weighing down our spirits this month, we’ve made some extra effort to make the weekends more exciting and did a few little day trips to find sunshine and just get out of dodge—sometimes you just need to am I right? We had a couple Saturdays spent in LA, which I didn’t realize how much I needed. One was just with Todd (no kids, a mini day date) and one was on my own, and I’m not going to lie it was niceeeeee. Listening to a couple podcasts (Call Her Daddy + Gwyneth Paltrow was my favorite), checking out the new Sezane store at the Brentwood Country Mart (officially open now for a few months, don’t miss it!) and uninterrupted solo shopping—a little Mother’s Day gift to myself.

Yesterday we drove up to Santa Ynez with some friends and had the famous tri-tip sandwich at Coldspring Tavern and it was perfection. The kids playing, the sun was out and it just felt like summer had arrived. Afterwards we took the kids to a nearby creek and they all jumped in (clothes on) just the sweetest memory. Our next weekend plan is to head up to Ojai and have lunch at Rory’s Place, also next door to the girls’ favorite playground (Libby Park).

Some other things brightening up this month…

The Mission Rose Garden in full bloom… I love stopping here with Lila on our way home just to run around or have a mini picnic. It’s so beautiful right now.

A dress I wore on Mother’s Day… also easily paired with knits (seen here) and a favorite ivory Jenni Kayne sweater (don’t forget I have a 15% off code for all things JK—Samantha15).

Lastly, the most special Mother’s Day spent at El Encanto with family, one of my favorite spots in Santa Barbara. It’s so incredibly peaceful and the view is one of my favorites. We fed the turtles in the pond, had dinner on the patio and cozied up by the fire after dinner. The lemon curd dessert was so good we all shared an extra order! Can’t wait to return there again for a special occasion.
