Holiday Shine

December 12, 2023

All that holiday glam… I’m always here for it! Whether you have a party lined up or have to make one yourself (pizza and caviar anyone?) something shiny or sparkly will always be a good idea. I have a bazillion images saved on my pinterest boards with some of the chicest sequin finds but they are much harder to come by and (in my experience) can fit poorly, especially the bargain buys. My rule of thumb is to wear them loose, the baggier the better if you’re buying them cheap. The higher end the designer the better the fit will be I have found—something to keep in mine.

Some fun pieces that I came across while planning for our fairly mellow NYE on the books…  this sequin skirt that I could see with a chunky sweater… these earrings that remind me of the ball drop… more fun earrings that would work past NYE… sometimes less is more and this bit of sparkle in the form of a headband is perfection (as is the price tag).

Shiny or sequin pieces are also fun to pair with a more casual item. A basic white tee or tank styled with a sequin skirt or slightly sheer and shiny top over a lacy bra… or a favorite pair of jeans with a sparkly top

Another touch I love around this time of year (but especially this year) is a ribbon tied in a pony or half up half down messy do. Every year around this time I buy a handful of these silk dyed ribbons for presents, the dinner table and they usually wind up in my hair too. They’re just the prettiest. But I’m also loving a thin black or red ribbon. Big floppy bows are just as great…

Some more finds here…
