A personal scent is a powerful thing. It can draw people in, boost your sense of femininity and define your style.
A scent can timestamp certain times of your life or instantly remind you of a vivid memory or person. I wore Le Labo Santal 33 on my wedding day and I am instantly transported to all the emotions I felt on that day—it’s so amazing and so bananas at the same time. For this reason I’ve always thought it made the most amazing gift—or the worst if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s not a gift you buy someone you don’t know very well, that’s for sure. But if you do, it’s a slam-dunk.
Here’s the secret:
Look at what they already own or wear. What are the main notes? What brand is it? My sister loves Tom Ford’s line of perfume so I know she likes those musky undertones that he uses. If you’re on the hunt here are a few that you can’t go wrong with.
This is such a beautiful scent and I've been wearing it non-stop lately. It has light notes like French Lavender and Linden Blossom while grounding woody notes like Australian Sandlewood and Black Peppercorn give a velvety musk scent. It's subtle and mysterious, which is what I look for in a perfume.
It's hard to pick just one Jo Malone to share here, but this one I wear the most. My runner up? Peony and Blush Suede. Either way, I love how subtle and sophisticated all the Jo Malone scents are.
I love this line so much. Maybe it's because I wore it on my wedding day, but everything about it feels cool and understated. One of their newer scents has sort of replaced my love for Thé Noir 29. Tonka is similar and a tad more feminine.
