Friday List 5.10

May 10, 2019

Have you ever had one of those weeks when all your technology seems to go awry?

This was my week. I felt like I hit a roadblock at every turn when it came to my phone, website and Internet. No biggie just the essentials for getting any work done, hence the tardiness of this post. Every week comes with its frustrations and uphill climbs, which makes the good things that much sweeter. So while I may have had a bum week in some aspects, there were so many other silver linings that outweighed the annoying bits.

1.

Maybe it was all the stress from the week, or the drab gray weather we’ve been having in California, but my skin has felt dull and in need of a pick-me-up. Susanne Kaufann is a clean skincare brand that I’ve loved in the past—the SPF lotion is one of my favorites. So when this Glow Mask arrived this week I set aside a night for a bath and mask and it was just what I needed to restart the engines.

2.

Last weekend I was invited to Shutters On The Beach in Santa Monica for a one-night stay with GOOP for some self-pampering. It was just what Todd and I needed and so much fun walking into a hotel room filled with GOOP goodies. I got to try their new GOOPGLOW Glycolic Acid + Fruit Extracts Overnight Glow Peel Pads that are super convenient to use. Between the solid night of sleep and my GOOPGLOW I left feeling and looking completely renewed.

3.

My nighttime read this week, which was perfect for a technologically challenged week, has been How To Breath by Ashley Neese. I’m just cracking into it but it’s already planted a daily awareness in my head to pay attention to how I’m breathing and incorporate some breathing techniques into my day, which have 100% helped me calm my nervous system. My heart races sometimes with adrenaline when I’m working, anxious or over-tired and slowing down with some breath has been working like a charm.

4.

Maisonette is one of my favorite shopping destinations for Elin and they’re always doing the sweetest brand collaborations for the little ones. The latest is twinning socks for mama and baby and when you buy a pair, Maisonette donates a pair to Win, an organization that works to provide safe housing, critical services and ground-breaking programs to homeless women and their children across New York City.

5.

A highlight of my week was stopping by Olivia Joffrey’s studio here in Santa Barbara. For starters, it’s in one of my favorite buildings in Santa Barbara and feels like something you’d stumble upon in France. She has a line of caftans in timeless patterns and colors that is inspired by her mom who lived in Spain during the 70’s. I got to take this surf print scarf she collaborated on with Spanish artist Ivan Terestchenko and I love it so much I might have to frame it.

6.

I was introduced to the amazing Kristina Holey on the retreat I went on with Jenni Kayne and was lucky enough to get a one-on-one consult and facial with her. She’s incredibly knowledgable about skin and the extensive questionnaire I filled out beforehand about diet and well being was so telling about how she treats the skin from inside out. She sent me home with a bag of her products and I just started using them a few days ago and I’m amazed at how quickly my skin has changed. It feels more hydrated, youthful and overall healthier if that makes sense. If only she lived closer I’d be seeing her monthly for a facial!

I hope you all have the best weekend. I know I’ll be pampering myself and my mama!

xx Sam
