This week felt like the official kick off to summer. Kids got out of school, foggy days actually turned into warm sunny days and suddenly everyone is having a party or barbecue. It got me rifling through my wardrobe (and doing a bit of shopping) to put a few looks together for some casual gatherings and dressier shindigs.

Beachside Breezy

I love a summer evening by the beach especially at the new Miramar hotel in Santa Barbara. We have a friend’s birthday dinner at Caruso’s coming up and I’m excited to get dressed up for an adult only night by the beach.

Backyard Bash

Whether it’s a small group for dinner or an all out party, a backyard bash always has a laidback vibe so I try to pick pieces that reflect that. And before you opt for heels, ask the host if you’ll be on grass.

Pool Party

We don’t have a pool, but I have strong feelings about anyone who does is obligated to throw at least one summer pool party. Am I right? I’ll bring the hot dogs and popsicles.
