I’ve been waiting for that little bolt of wardrobe inspiration to come my way post holidays to save me from my leggings and organizing frenzy lewks (you guys know what I’m talking about), finally it came when I threw on these suede Doen cowboy boots I got in the Fall paired with my favorite straight leg ecru jeans. It felt like one of those unexpected things I didn’t *think* would work but somehow feels effortlessly cool.
Here’s what I love about a cowboy boot worn subtly under some jeans… cowboys have that disheveled yet cool undercurrent to them so carrying that over to some “usual” winter looks gives an unexpected edge. I also love the more masculine energy a cowboy boot has and pairing that with more classic layers—like this rain/trench coat and cardigan—is an easy way to change up your basics. The Khaite Marfa boot is another way to get the look with a slightly more modern shape—love that suede—or the Nevada boot which I could plan a whole outfit around—that bit of snakeskin!
Another pairing I’ve been loving lately is stripes and boots. Coastal cowboy anyone? I recently got my first La Ligne sweater and can’t get enough of the perfect shape, long sleeves (just enough to pull over your hands, a detail I SO appreciate) and the placement of the stripes. I got this black and tobacco stripe sweater that pairs so well with my brown suede cowboy boots.
If you’re bundling up in longer coats, I love the pairing of a big wool coat, some great straight leg jeans, cowboy boots and basic black sunglasses—like this pair (use my code: SAMANTHAW10). Again, that unexpected combination just feels fresh and different. Some more outfits and things to pair with cowboy boots…
