When I look at my mom and grandmother (or Oumie is what we call her) there are a handful of traits that I most definitely picked up from them. One that is high on the list is our sun loving souls. We just can’t seem to get enough vitamin d in our system. All three of us are California born and raised, which might have something to do with it, but then again my grandmother is 93 and still putting on her bikini to get a good sunny dose each day. When I see her mood completely change with a smile the second she hits that lawn chair, it makes me think that maybe it’s just in our blood. For me, nothing relaxes me quite like a little warmth on my skin. A day spent by a pool soaking in rays is pure leisure in my mind. I did just that recently with a stack of magazines, a piaña colada and chips, which felt like pure bliss. It dawned on my how much I love spring and summer for this very reason and was reminded of my sun worshipping roots.
