Before having our sweet Elin, Todd and I traveled a lot. We loved it and promised ourselves we would keep doing it even when we had little ones in tow. We recently took our biggest trip yet to New York and I have to say I think I’ve found the secret to traveling with kids—Kid & Coe, kid friendly family vacation destinations.
The first time I came across Kid & Coe I was instantly inspired to take the leap and plan a trip. The properties are incredible to say the least and each one lists different essentials it has available like cribs, high chairs, books and even insider information on kid-friendly restaurants and recommended sitters. I’ll admit that I had so many questions about traveling with Elin and so many “what if” fears, you know the usual first time mom stuff, but after discovering Kid & Coe a lot of my thoughts were all answered and put at ease. And so we made our plans to stay a week in the big apple and braved the 5+ hour flight and arrived to our Kid & Coe apartment in Greenwich Village—listed here. The moment we arrived it felt just like home. Our week long stay was too fun to put into words. We had all the comforts for Elin (and us!) that she’d normally have at home but plopped in the middle of New York—something so different than our sleepy beach town. Every morning we’d get up and walk through Washington Square Park to one of the two coffee spots we came to be obsessed with—La Colombe and Stumptown. Elin couldn’t get enough, she’d lean forward and wave to everyone on the sidewalk, it was too cute.
The neighborhood guide was also spot on. We went to two of the restaurants recommended and frequented a nearby deli that had all of Elin’s favorite snacks and food. It made lunch on the go ten times easier. While traveling requires a sense of “go with the flow” mentality, keeping a routine for Elin was important to us. Bedtime rituals (bath tubs are oh so important), having a quite dark space and reading books before naps was all made simple and easy, just like it is at home. She adjusted to the time change in one day and I’m convinced its because she felt so comfortable.
Be sure to check out all the amazing destinations over on Kid & Coe. Whether you have kids or not, I promise you’ll get the itch and inspiration to jump on a flight. Enter the code SW75 to get $75 off a booking! I have my eye on this amazing spot in Provence and this one in Sayulita—have kids, will travel!
