I’ve been layering a lot these days because even though the calendar says Spring, I’m still finding that extra layer to be oh so necessary.
My number one layering piece—that I’ve had since I was pregnant and still wear it all the time—is this simple white shirtdress. I found it years ago when I was starting to show with Elin (remember this?) and needed something basic, loose and versatile so I could wear it anytime. The designer is T by Alexander and sadly not available, but I rounded up some other similar finds below. Here’s how I love wearing it and styling it…
Collared Coat
Given that I’m cold all the time, I love a warmer collared layer over a simple while collared shirt or dress. It looks grown up and sophisticated and sets the stage for something boyish or rough. I can’t get enough of this Theory coat, the shape, softness and buttery color is just so good. It also comes in the best bright blue color (and on sale!).
Really, you can pair a white shirtdress with just about any pair of shoes—that’s what makes this dress such a staple in my wardrobe. But I’ve been loving the combo of a sophisticated layer with a sporty shoe. And these Allbirds also happen to be insanely comfortable.
Statement Sunglasses
Since a white collared shirtdress is as basic and timeless as you can get, inviting a playful pair of sunnies can liven up any simple piece. These cat-eye frames have that cool fashion girl vibe and I love how they update any look.
