Some Thoughts…

June 14, 2020

The past few weeks have been incredibly emotional and pivotal for our country. It seems more than ever the curtain has been drawn exposing injustice and racism in America and my heart has been heavy. The powerful scenes of protestors and incredible black voices sharing their perspective/thoughts/frustrations on Instagram have heightened this collective feeling that we all need to take part in this movement towards change and take better care of each other.

I’ve learned so much in the past few weeks from articles and videos to documentaries like “13th” that have opened my eyes and deepened my understanding of systemic racism in America. I’ve been asking tough questions within my own home, family and community while I navigate my part and will continue to do so day after day, year after year. On a professional level I want to make sure that I’m supporting my fellow Black influencers and Black-owned businesses within my content. It’s been amazing to see all the round-ups people have been sharing and I’ve been so inspired by some new discoveries that I wanted to share here.

1.

Monrowe out of New York makes the most beautiful handmade hats. The straw Roe hat would be so perfect for summer beach days.

2.

Liha is a luxury natural skincare company that makes organic and ethically sourced body products. I’m dying to try the Idan oil made with coconut oil and turberose flowers.

3.

Another clean beauty line that everyone raves about, Klur. I’m a serum girl so I have my eye on the Immersion serum. If anyone has tried it let me know!

4.

Gimme all the magic superfood powders out there! I was so excited to discover Golde this brand that makes face masks, turmeric latte blends, matcha blends and detox/glow kits for making your skin magical inside and out.

5.

La Botica NYC makes scented candles, perfume oil, incense sticks and loungewear for that relaxed lifestyle. I love a good candle but I also appreciate the ones with a minimal, stylish look which these black/white designed products have.

6.

I’ve been a longtime fan of Lemlem who makes the best gauzy cover-ups in the prettiest patterns and colors. I had no idea she was doing swimwear now and of course it’s amazing.

7.

I’ve never been to Brooklyn if you can believe it and I’m dying to go. I have a list of spots I’ve learned about over the years and recently added Sincerely, Tommy to my list—a curated lifestyle store with emerging brands and there’s also a coffee bar.

8.

I’ve been following Claude Home on Instagram for over a year and literally save almost every image/furniture find that is posted.

9.

One luxury I’ll always splurge on in the home department is bedding. Linoto Linen makes beautiful linen sheets, towels, curtains and kitchen/dining napkins and tea towels in tons of different colors. The natural oatmeal shade is calling my name.

10.

These adorable handmade dolls by Harperlman Dolls caught my attention.
