I forgot how great a denim jacket is after digging mine out to wear yesterday. This kind-of-cold but kind of warm-in-the-sun Spring weather is perfect for a denim layer in my opinion. I start out with a tee, sweater and denim jacket and by the afternoon I’m either just in the tee or have my denim jacket over my shoulders. Here are a few ways I like to wear my denim jackets and a few I am loving at the moment—just bought a new one yesterday!

For starters, I am a fan of a denim on denim look with a sweater or tee sandwiched in there. It takes a bit of playing around but I find that the more vintage you go with washes, the easier they are to blend together. My rule of thumb is to go darker on the bottom, a personal preference but the closer you can get the two the better. I have had this Madewell jacket for a few years now and it is a great style for the price—currently out of stock in this wash but they have the black which I’m thinking i might need because this style is so good, size up! If you’re wanting that Khaite denim jacket vibe (high on my wishlist at the moment) go up a couple sizes, the bigger the better. 

As I mentioned I’ve been styling basic tees and sweaters underneath my denim jacket and loving a classic ivory knit to break up the denim—Jenni Kayne makes a few I love and as always you can use my code for a little discount “Samantha15.” While keeping my overall look neutral I’ve been adding a little life through accessories—like this striped bag, a favorite green baseball cap, brightly colored sneakers and chunkier jewelry.
