Gift Guide: On Island Time

November 21, 2024

I wrote about my top ten gift ideas for the holidays in my substack and one of the things I mentioned was gifting a travel experience. One of my favorite things we did as a family this year was spend a week in Hawaii at the Rosewood Kona Village. I can’t say enough about this spot it was truly unforgettable that I will always tell Todd to not get me anything big and instead save it for a trip! Let’s go somewhere! If you are headed somewhere warm and gifting fun things to take on that trip… here are some ideas.

You can read more about things I love packing for island/beachside vacations here and here but the first thing I always always remember to bring is a baseball cap. Wide brim hats are great but in my experience there’s always a bit of a breeze on the beach and baseball caps are just way more practical. Plus I kind of love that sporty infusion to billowy sarongs and dresses. I love this green color, anything Sporty & Rich is a favorite or this sand colored one. I’m always into the idea of packaging a few items that fit a theme… this Cesta Collective bag is one of my all-time favorites, the size is perfect and it’s made so so beautifully. It’s also the perfect size to fit a few things like a hat, sunscreen and sandals (this is a great pair) for a fun presentation.

Seaside inspired jewelry is the most fun if you ask me and a perfect way to commemorate an upcoming trip or year! I love a raw pearl, Chan Luu (currently having a 25% off sale!) does some really beautiful pieces like this simple necklace or this Keshi Pearl Cobra necklace. I also think this Ariel Gordon x Honestly WTF DIY kit is so fun for a beach vacation. You can add your own charms or shells that you find on your trip! You’ll be able to make the surfer-girl esque necklaces to add to other fine jewelry for a jumbled effortlessly cool beach girl look. Also I had so much fun making necklaces with Elin (now 10 years old) so it’s a great gift for any girl into making jewelry. I did a round up of some other great seaside inspired jewelry here!

Lastly, there is nothing better than sitting on a beach while getting lost in a good book. I whipped through about four Emily Henry books this past summer and can’t recommend them enough!
