For whatever reason, I had no desire to hop on a plane this summer, pull out my passport or struggle through another airport. I’m sure my attitude will change soon, but staying close to home and visiting some of our favorite close-by getaways sounded ten times more relaxing.
Ojai has always been one of my favorite day trips from Santa Barbara. Everything about it feels relaxing to me like the quick 40 minute drive, healthy restaurants, warm temperatures, pink sunsets, funky shops that make you feel like you’re in another country and, of course, Ojai Valley Inn. It’s the kind of resort that exudes a sense of calmness that literally leaves you feeling transformed after 48 hours. Naturally it was one of the first destinations that came to mind for a close-to-home getaway.
One of my favorite aspects of this spot is the insanely picturesque mountain views.

Why We Love It For Elin:
This is hands down one of our favorite places to take Elin. For starters, there’s a great kids pool supplied with pool toys, grounds that lend themselves to a scooter ride, an ice cream shop and dinner tables right on the golf course where kids run free while parents take in the view.
Our room had an attached private patio and fire pit which made for the coziest evenings and the best star gazing.
