One of my favorite traditions I had with my mom growing up was a standing Wednesday tea date with her and a friend of hers—she was a very fancy friend. But I loved every minute of it, dressing up, choosing sweet and savory treats from a porcelain tower and running all over the resort where we’d have our high tea dates. I literally pretended to be Eloise. When I was pregnant with Elin I was 99% sure we were having a boy—remember this post? So when we were surprised with a girl the first few weeks my mind wandered to all the things I did with my mom, you know the girly things. I’d get the sweetest butterflies inside when I’d imagine doing some of those things with Elin, tea dates was one of them.
A few years later and here we are, having tea dates. Although I’ve picked a new location, El Encanto, which is just up the hill from us. It’s our go-to for special occasions, brunch, tea and where I cash in on birthday massages and facials. I have dreams about their spa and will find any excuse to swing by for some pampering. I love how intimate, cozy and quiet it usually is and love how the décor feels luxurious and inviting. When Todd asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day my response was quick, a massage at El Encanto.
